The Dion Johnson Communication Center at Frederick Douglass High School is the home of the media and television production classroom. The media production class originally was one period a day but has since grown to two classrooms and become one of the most popular classes in the school. The daily news and announcements originate from here as the students gain valuable hands on experience with all facets of production.
Over $45,000 in improvements have been made along with equipment upgrades to provide the students with the latest in technology. Each year at least one student is honored with a scholarship as they move on to their college broadcasting careers.
The classes are taught by Ms.Patrice Porter who was a former classmate of Dion's.
